Lammas is a time of gratitude + prosperity. It is also known as Lughnasadh (LOO-nah-sah or LOO-nah-sahd).
This Sabbat takes place on the midpoint between summer solstice + autumn equinox- around August 1/2 {or February 1/2 for our Southern Hemisphere readers}
Traditionally, the festival of Lammas is
a first harvest festival + a celebration of bounty. The Earth Mother is her most fertile at this time, with fruit heavy on the vine + most grains being ready to be picked from the fields.
The goddesses that are honored at this time are sun goddesses as well as those of the fields, hearth + home: Demeter + Hestia + Lakshmi.
Celebrate your abundance + gratitude!
Depending on your tradition, there are a number of ways you can celebrate this Sabbat.
I always start with a blessing as I create sacred space. I light a candle. Sit in a quiet place. Play soothing music. Intentionally create the container for your ritual.
When you are ready, say this aloud:
Bless me on this holy day, as I honor the traditions of my ancient siblings. I hold space for myself + for all living creatures on this planet. I stand here with a heart full of gratitude + a body nourished from my recent abundant harvest. I appreciate each phase in the wheel of the year, and this one I celebrate with my community!
May the blessings be - and so it is
