The one thing you need to do today on New Year’s Day

Happy New Year! I'm so excited for what's coming up for all of us in 2024!
 
It feel so big + abundant! It's an 8 year in numerology, which means prosperity, thriving + big advances in our lives.
 
Yet we're still in the in-between times, the VOID... not in 2023 anymore, and not quite in the new year yet, right?
 
This can cause us to feel kinda out of it, leaving us feeling uneasy or anxious about what to do this week. 
 
AND let's be real, we're all still processing what happened in 2023! 
 
Totally normal! In fact, this past week I have had to do so much processing of what happened the past few years to feel good about moving forward into 2024. I needed to create space for the NEW by letting go of the old.
 
AND everyone is always talking about letting go of what no longer serves you, but I don't see many people talking about how to actually DO IT!
 
We can say we're over things, but our body will hold onto the emotions + feelings + energy of what happened until we process + clear them.
 
When we have stuck emotions in our body, we start to feel frustrated, overwhelmed + kinda angry, right? Sometimes we don't even know why. That's our body trying to tell us something needs to be cleared before we can move on.
 
THIS IS WHAT KUNDALINI YOGA CAN HELP US WITH!
 
CURIOUS WHAT KUNDALINI YOGA IS?
 
Kundalini is the yoga of awareness. It helps us to transform stuck energy in our physical body into energy we can use to move forward, to process our emotions, and to relieve anxiety. It  improves brain function, strengthens the immune system,  connects us to our spirituality, AND SO MUCH MORE.
 
each session includes:

⚡️physical postures w/ easy adaptations
⚡️mantras + meditation 
⚡️breathwork for energy cultivation + nervous system regulation
 
A KRIYA IS A SET OF POSTURES/MANTRAS/MEDITATION/BREATHWORK PRESCRIBED TO EFFECT A DETERMINED OUTCOME.

And since I know we are so similar, I wanted to share my fave Kundalini Kriya to clear frustration and/or feeling stuck so that we can move forward into 2024 feeling calm and empowered and READY... together.

KRIYA TO CLEAR STUCK EMOTIONS
 
Grab a yoga mat or blanket to sit on. Create space for yourslef to be alone and quiet for about 5 minutes. {longer if you like!}
 
Posture: Sit in easy pose or rock pose. Make hands into fists with your thumbs on the inside.  

Eyes: Keep your eyes closed, gently focusing up and in at the 3rd eye brow point. 

Breath: Do a powerful Breath of Fire through an O-shaped mouth.

Movement: Take one arm overhead like a backstroke and then the other, alternating and using your frustration to fuel the movement.

Meditation: Call up all the frustrations of 2023 (or even the past few years as we’ve all been though some tough times), all the things that made you angry or upset, and imagine yourself processing the emotions involved and clearing them away with the moments of your arms and powerful breath.

NOTE: Frustration and anger are helpful for showing us what is no longer working in our lives, but holding onto these emotions can become toxic. Make sure you are also taking action to remedy the situations in your life that come up in this kriya, or else you’ll continue to experience frustration until you do.

Time: 1-3 minutes

To end: Inhale, hold the breath, stretch your arms up with fingers reaching for the ceiling. Imagine yourself surrounded with white shimmering light. Exhale but keep your arms stretched up. Repeat twice more inhaling, holding the breath as your stretch and feel yourself surrounded with white shimmering light, white upon white. Exhale and sweep the arms down to your sides, feeling the powerful aura you just created for yourself. Sit and allow the breath to return to normal feeling what comes up + then relax. 
 
You might wanna grab your journal + write out what came up for you to help you further process. Making a list of the frustrating situations that came up in your meditation may help you to create action steps to clear them out of your life.
